Celebrating the Stores & Stories of Long-Time Merchants!
The West Broadway BIA is excited to introduce you to our Stars on Broadway – 73 of our local eats, shops and services who have been in business for over 20 years! These long-time businesses have opened their doors, warmed our hearts and made many memories in the community and we are proud to feature them on our new street banners. We encourage you to meet the merchants, visit their stores and learn their stories.
Special thanks to Emily Carr and BrainBoost Education as well as Peter Forde, Emma Heckman, Jack Morris and Natalie Schmidt – the talented illustrators who brought the merchant caricatures to life.
Local community organizations including the Vancouver Public Library’s Kitsilano Branch, the Kitsilano Community Centre and Kitsilano Neighbourhood house are helping to honour our long-time merchants with our roaming exhibit, ‘Stories on Broadway’, which gives you the opportunity to take a close up look at the Stars on Broadway street banner art accompanied by the merchant’s stories. Currently, you can find the exhibit at Kitsilano CC for the month of August!
Next time you’re in the neighbourhood look up and see the stars on Broadway!
