William Parton Agencies was opened in 1956 by the Parton family at 2665 West Broadway, just a few doors down from their current store front at 2695 West Broadway. Spencer Parton’s grandparents, William (Bill) and Beatrice (Bunny) Parton, decided Kitsilano was the perfect place to raise a family and start a business. It started as a real estate office but eventually evolved to provide insurance and notary services and that’s when William’s sons decided to join the family business.
Since then, Parton Insurance has grown into a successful independent brokerage and notary office serving Kitsilano and surrounding communities. Spencer is now the third generation owner and many of his customers are also third generation. “I get reminded regularly that Bill and Bunny were great people,” he says. “They would have been very proud to have seen me working at the family business.”
