Here is a stat that is hard to swallow: about 47% of the food in Canada goes to waste. On Tuesday, November 10, Food Stash Foundation is marking its 10 year anniversary with a night at The Park Theatre that gives you a chance to do something about it.
The Vancouver charity is screening Just Eat It: A Food Waste Story, with a raffle, prizes, and ways to join the fight against food waste. Consider it dinner and a movie, minus the leftovers.
A film that will change how you look at your fridge
Just Eat It follows filmmakers Jen and Grant as they quit grocery shopping cold turkey and live only on food that would otherwise be thrown away. Directed by Grant Baldwin, the Canadian documentary runs a tidy 75 minutes and will make you rethink that best before date.
More than a movie night
Doors open at 5:00 pm, an hour before showtime, so come early to meet the Food Stash team, grab raffle tickets, and catch the pre-show programming. Plus, eligible donations are being matched dollar for dollar for a limited time, thanks to South Flats by PCI Developments and Low Tide Properties, so every gift rescues twice as much good food.
