Kits, it is time to take note. On Sunday, November 15, Vancouver Heritage Foundation is recognizing Cory Weeds’ Cellar Jazz Club as Places That Matter #102, and the whole neighbourhood is invited.
From 2000 to 2014, the basement at 3611 West Broadway was home to the Cellar, a club with a brief but lasting legacy in Vancouver’s jazz scene. Join Vancouver Heritage Foundation, Cory Weeds, and special guests to celebrate that history, hear from today’s thriving local jazz community, and learn about the connections made at this address over the years.
Event details
- When: Sunday, November 15, 4 PM to 5 PM
- Where: 3611 West Broadway (the former Cellar is now Gracie Barra Kitsilano)
- RSVP and questions: jessica@vancouverheritagefoundation.org
Good to know
Follow the stairs down to the basement. Guests will be seated on floor mats, so shoes come off at the door (martial arts attire not required). Chairs will be saved for speakers and anyone with mobility issues.
Help fund the plaque
The plaque is being crowdfunded, and every bit helps keep this piece of Kits history on the record. Donate to the Cory Weeds’ Cellar Jazz Club plaque here.
