The West Broadway Business Improvement Association (WBBIA) consists of businesses and property owners on West Broadway from Collingwood to Larch St.
Our volunteer board members are committed to enhancing the vitality of the business community by developing initiatives that enhance and benefit our area, from promoting small businesses and local events, to streetscape projects and developing community partnerships.
Citywide, provincially and internationally, BIAs are dynamic organizations providing programs ranging from marketing, street beautification, safety and security and business relations.

Executive Director – Michelle Barile
Michelle Barile is the Executive Director of the West Broadway BIA, and a consultant in BIA formations and marketing. Michelle has worked with the West Broadway BIA since its formation in 2011, and began as a volunteer!
Michelle’s role in supporting West Broadway’s business area and small businesses includes:
- graphic design
- promotions
- events
- street beautification
- strategic planning
- budget planning
- administration
- advocacy
Michelle has 18 years of BIA experience, implementing award-winning initiatives that engage the community and enhance business areas. In 2024, she received the King Charles III Coronation Medal award; in 2020, she received the Kitsilano Neighbourhood House Good Neighbour Award; and in 2010, 2015, and 2019, she received BIABC’s Best in the West Awards for various BIA projects.
Her own small business experience began early on, making aluminum railings at her Dad’s factory (coincidentally called “Broadway Manufacturing”) and attempting to waitress at her Mom’s restaurant (breaking dishes since 1995 – OPA!).
Social Media/Digital Marketing – Kassandra Guagliardi
Kassandra Guagliardi is a Vancouver-based digital marketer and content creator, the founder of Ice Cream Social, and the heartbeat of West Broadway BIA’s social media!
Ice Cream Social specializes in digital marketing and content strategy that helps brands show up online with a clear, cohesive voice. They create original, engaging content and manage social platforms in ways that actually connect with your audience and feel aligned with your brand. Their work spans across content creation, social media management, photography, ads, UGC, copywriting, blog writing, and email marketing – all designed to help your brand grow without losing its personality.
