The Show Will Go On!  Music and a Movie - August 26th!

 

Get ready for a sweet event in Kits this Sunday!  Join us for Music and A Movie, featuring the movie “Coco” and much more!  Find the fun in Connaught Park, or inside the Kits community centre if there’s rain drops!  Pre-show stars at 4pm, movie at 8:30pm, and good times at all times :p

Sing-a-long and get your dancing shoes on with pre-show performances including Michael Averill, Music with Marnie, Las Estrellas de VancouverWill’s Jams and Harrison the Yoyer! Plus, a photo booth, local merchant concession treats (see the yummy deets below), arts and crafts, community booths and some bouncy castles (of course).

Michael Averill – Michael Averill is an adventurous Canadian troubadour who delivers stories and songs of serendipity around the country by foot. Described as one of the Best Performers of her Generation by the Vancouver International Children’s Festival, Marnie will be sure to captivate your child and have them moving and grooving to songs from her 4 Award Winning Albums. Marnie performs funky and educational tunes that get kids and parents nation wide, moving and grooving. Each song tells a story and has an action keeping children focused and physical. Las Estrellas de Vancouver – Formed during the summer of 2014, Mariachi Las Estrellas is Vancouver’s only all-female Mariachi Band. It is made up of a diverse and talented group of women from a variety of backgrounds including classical, jazz and world music. Will’s Jams – Will Stroet is a Juno Award nominated bilingual children’s musician from Vancouver, BC. Will has performed more than 1500 shows for children across Canada at theatres, festivals and schools. He has released eight albums in English and French and one music DVD, which have garnered international recognition. Will has received a 2011 West Coast Songwriters Award, 2011 Kids’ Music Award, approval from the Parents’ Choice Awards, five nominations from the Western Canadian Music Awards, two from the Canadian Folk Music Awards and two from the Canadian Independent Music Awards. Harrison Lee – Vancouverite Harrison Lee first picked up the modern yoyo in 2011 and has been going ever since.  Harrison has organized numerous yoyo events including yoyo competitions and fundraisers, not to mention becoming the Canadian National Return Top Champion, twice. He’s also known as the yoyo kid in Vancouver with interviews and features in The Globe and Mail, KOMO 4 News, Global TV, CBC News, Breakfast Television, and on CBC Radio One, to name a few. The world of competitive yoyoing has taken Harrison all over the world, and he’s even yoyoed alongside the Barenaked Ladies (twice!), been invited to motivational events such as Interesting Vancouver and TEDxKids, and is a regular entertainer at local events.
