THE RAIC & THE CNV PRESENT: A Public Dialogue with Leading Canadian Urban Designers on Best High Street Designs
The Built City Speaker Series provides a forum for dialogue and problem solving around walkable, vibrant + affordable city building. With advancing effects of climate change and transformative impacts of social media, e-retail and other technologies on the social fabric of cities, we have to re-think and future proof MetroVancouver’s livability.
This event asks the hard questions and explores social resiliency in the time of climate change through social connectedness, aka, pedestrian oriented architectural + urban design and their profound role. The ‘third place’ in the public realm provides a stage where neighbours can build community. A ‘sense of belonging’ and equity will be vital for residents in supporting civil society vibrancy, rule of law and most importantly, to buy-into climate change initiatives.
