Like many of West Broadway’s long-time merchants, this family run bakery has its roots in Greece. Lula grew up working in her father’s pastry store in Greece, so it was only natural to open up a bakery with her son Eric and carry on the family tradition. With its large Greek community, Kits was a natural fit for Serano’s classic pastries and Eric and his wife Helen loved the area so much they moved two blocks away and don’t plan on leaving.
Their delicious treats have kept clients coming back for 23 years. From traditional items like baklava, galaktoboureko and their renowned spanakopita, to colourful meringues and ready to dip biscotti, everything they offer is made with love.
What’s their secret to sweet success? Supporting your business like you would a member of the family. “Meaning always be there for it,” clarifies Eric. “I believe when it is small number of people working, they work hard and take a lot of pride in what they do. Success will follow.”
